Great, if not daunting, advice. It reminds me of another great quote from Yvon Chouinard’s book Let My People Go Surfing:
“Don’t spend money on gear. Spend it on plane tickets.” – Audrey Sutherland

Headed south on Friday night for a weekend adventure. Found an amazing 3.5 mile hike through the sand dunes that are south of Florence. You start by hiking into a lush, green forest which quickly turns into a massive stretch of sand dunes. Play some frisbee, jump off some dunes and enjoy the fact that there is absolutely no one in sight. You trek on and become a little warm and tired from the sun but wait is that water that you see? Yes, it is a gorgeous river that is perfect for swimming. After realizing that that was one of the coolest things you’ve ever seen you continue on just a little further and you start to hear the crashing waves of the Pacific. There it is…miles of deserted, pristine beach. It’s a beautiful reward at the end. This is why I love Oregon.

So in love with this series of portraits by Matt Wisniewski.
